One of the biggest advancements in recent years hasn’t only been applications developed for smartphones but rather apps developed across all connected devices – big or small.
Applications have been part of our daily lives for quite sometime but they’ve finally found their groove in our digital society within the last seven years. It’s not just smartphone and handheld device applications that are a big hit but also browser-based and SmartTV applications as well.
Mobile, Tablet and Web App Development
By 2017, the world is on pace to have 4.4 billion people who interact with apps daily.
Mobile & Tablet App Development
We get it, you want an app, and who doesn’t? At VALEIRA we take planning very seriously in order to create the best mobile and tablet experience possible for you. Whether it’s a utility, education, business, or productivity based app we have the engineering and design protocol that will lead to a successful and buzzworthy launch.
Web Application Development
Many customers want an app but it doesn’t necessarily mean that you need an app. A great way to offer a similar experience by spending less is to create web-based applications that run inside of all browsers on all devices. The advantages are a mile long, but this is something we will consider when hearing about your app ideas.
How We Go About Creating Apps
Get familiar with your idea. The first line of communication is to help us get familiar with your idea and your expectations – short and long term. We talk budget, timeline and anything else that may help you make the best decision. All of our design work is done in-house at VALEIRA.
Once you’re ready to move forward, we establish a timeline and set up payment terms. Usually, small to medium sized apps take 15-22 weeks to launch.
Determine the audience(s). Your target audience will greatly influence the look and functionality of the app. Are you targeting to younger ages? Women or men? Gamers or business people?
Find the need, not the want. No matter what kind of app you are looking to get done, it needs to be better than your competition. And it doesn’t stop there – how do you keep building upon that desire.
Content. What kind of content will your app contain? Video? Text? Images? Social Media? Text fields and other information? Be sure you are taking a proactive approach to offering the most important content in the most important areas of the app with jeopardizing user satisfaction.
Good design starts with research. Now’ it’s time for us to get dirty and really dive into similar apps. We document the entire experience by jotting down what we think makes them good and what makes them bad. We ask ourselves – How would we have made this better? There’s a great deal that can be learned by just research and observation from what’s already out there.
UI/UX Design. Once we’ve compiled the data and information we need, it’s time to start crafting the collected vision. This is where our vision meets yours. We start to craft the visuals of your app through a comprehensive storyboarding process so you can see the app in its entirety before programming begins.
Multimedia Elements. We also compile all the assets that will be needed within the app, such as video, images, text, and other content.
We then take all of our design elements and begin creating the app in a testing environment. Need we say more? This is where it all comes together as we combine the information architecture with the user interface in a live setting.
Create developer accounts. Whichever app markets you are releasing your app on, we need to register developer accounts. This is a crucial step and some personal company information is need so you can have your company featured as the developer/owner of the app, not VALEIRA. C’mon, it’s you that should get all the credit here!
Debug. If you’re app is crashing, we need to figure out why. This also helps us pinpoint other things that may cause a bad experience for a user. We test on all major devices and document any negative experiences that need to be tweaked.
Check Memory Usage. Many of the devices we build for have limited memory due to their small size. We make sure that when we are done using memory in certain parts of your app that it’s restored to the device after a task is done, that means we bring that particular function to an end and shut it off. The user can then carry on and use that memory elsewhere for something else. This balance can help avoid the app crashing as well as overheating of the device.
Distribute Test Files. Once the app is 99% complete, we need to get it in the hands of different users. Every person will go through a different interaction process when using the app. This helps us get all sorts of variations of usage to help target any underlying issues that might arise. We fix or make adjustments to what the users find then get ready for launch!
Submit to App Markets. After the final signoff, we then publish your app and submit it to the desired app stores and markets.
Create App Branding. We assist with your big announcement by creating any visuals and marketing plans you wish to deploy to the world.
Create Press. Then we help by reaching out to bloggers, online publications, and other media agencies that would consider writing a piece on your new application.
Managed Services. When we’ve completed the app, we don’t just shake your hand a go away. We take the extra step to offer management services. We help make changes and update the app for all of your users on their respective app marketplaces.
Marketing. It’s common to want to expand the reach of your app. We create custom and affordable app market plans that help get engagement, advertising, transactions, downloads and anything else trending in an upward direction.
